Courtney Adeleye is the successful CEO and founder of The Mane Choice hair care products, a hair care line for African American women, according to Daily Mail. However, more than all her business success, she’s becoming more widely known for what she did in a now-viral video. When Adeleye, who also happens to be a caring and concerned mother, caught wind of what was going on with a teacher at her daughter’s school, she immediately took action.
After gathering what she needed to set things straight, Adeleye headed to the school, where she confronted the teacher in the hallway. There, she asked her to step outside after letting her know that she had heard what the teacher had been doing daily. What followed has spread across the internet like wildfire after the wealthy mom left the teacher in tears.
It was Adeleye’s husband who first told her that a teacher at their children’s school didn’t have reliable transportation. After learning that her daughter’s teacher was struggling financially and that the woman was forced to take multiple buses to get to and from work every day because she couldn’t afford a car, Adeleye decided she wanted to do something.
After speaking with her husband, a medical doctor, about the issue, the pair came to a heartwarming conclusion. They would buy their daughter’s teacher a brand new car. So, they went to the car lot, chose a shiny, white new car, and wrapped it in a bright blue ribbon. Then, they headed to the school to deliver the gift.
Obviously, this was a big purchase, and they knew it would change the teacher’s life forever. Still, there was a chance the teacher could have been offended by the gesture. But, that simply wasn’t the case. Instead, the woman’s emotional gratitude was palpable.
Luckily for us, Adeleye’s 11-year-old daughter filmed the touching moment. After the heartwarming gesture was captured on video, it was shared to Instagram for the rest of us to enjoy. From there, it made it’s way to Facebook and YouTube as people everywhere applauded Adeleye’s actions.
As Adeleye brought the teacher outside to see her car for the first time, the woman immediately got emotional. “Are you serious?” she said. “You’re really serious? Oh my gosh!” When Adeleye handed the keys to the teacher, the woman further broke down in tears. “No more sitting in the cold, no more riding the bus, no more waiting on somebody to come and pick me up!” she cried as she hugged Adeleye and her husband, showing her appreciation.
“I cannot believe this! Y’all just don’t know!” she exclaimed before checking out her new car, which appears to be a Ford Focus. According to Daily Mail, “The 2018 Ford Focus starts at nearly $18,000,” which is a generous gift to be sure. What’s more, according to the caption on the video, the teacher had never owned a new car before. “She’s like legit the sweetest person you would ever want to meet!!!” Adeleye also wrote.
But, perhaps it’s Adeleye who’s even sweeter. In fact, Adeleye has become known among her Instagram followers for lending a helping hand after the beauty guru and businesswoman started the Pay My Bill program, where she offers to pay the bill of one of her followers. She’s since paid a bill for more than 150 of her social media followers, according to a Forbes profile on the entrepreneur.
Adeleye has explained that being able to help someone in their time of need is how she defines success. “When my husband tells me that the teacher who has been teaching my girls for the last few years has been catching multiple buses to get to and from work every day in the hot sun and cold! He said we should give her something I said….say no more!” Adeleye wrote. “When you ask me to define success….this is my response! (Give to those without expectations). All glory to GOD!” Amen. We couldn’t have said it better.
I hope many people read this article. If you ever do something like that for someone in need, I warn you, it is habit forming. It does your heart good to help people when you can. I could never do anything on that scale but I do little things for some people. That smile you get in return makes it all worthwhile.
