Disney CEO Says He Is Considering Selling ABC

The CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, has given some devastating news to employees of some of the company’s properties, like ABC and “The View.”

In a stunning interview with CNBC the CEO said to host David Faber that he is considering selling some properties like ABC, FX and National Geographic.

“Transformative work is dealing with businesses that are no growth businesses and what to do about them, and particularly the linear business, which we are expansive in our thinking about,” he said. “And we’re going to look expansively about opportunities there because clearly, it’s a business that is going to continue to struggle.”

He was asked in reference to companies like ABC and FX “Are you going to look to sell them?”

“We have to be open-minded and objective about the future of those businesses, yes,” the CEO said.

“Meaning that they’re not core to Disney?” the host said.

“That they may not be core to Disney,” the CEO said.

“The distribution model, the business model that forms the underpinning of that business and that is delivered great profits over the years is definitely broken. And we have to call it like it is,” he said.

“There’s a reality to it that we have to come to grips with,” the CEO said.

“And we have to come to grips with that now,” he said.

“The View,” which is on the BAC network, would likely be affected by a sale and the show has had its issues in recent times.

Last month the hosts got into a shouting match when cohost Sunny Hostin swiped at former Vice President Mike Pence, who has just started what is likely a doomed campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

Her cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin worked for Pence when he was vice president and took exception to some of the things Hostin said, but Hostin would not allow her to speak and then things got insane with cohost and moderator Whoopi Goldberg sending the show to commercial.

What infuriated Hosting was that Griffin said that she wanted to hear more from Pence.

“What scares me, Alyssa, is you are incapable of defending a man that you worked for,” Hostin said, “that you know of, and you’re saying that you need to hear –”

“Oh, no no. Why don’t you ask me a question, rather than–” Griffin said before Hostin interrupted her.

“I did ask you a question,” Hostin said as she continued to talk.

“You just accused me of something, so why don’t you let me actually answer?” Griffin said.

“Nope,” Hostin said. “I’m going to finish what I’m going to say.”

“Sunny likes to make it personal with me! Are you gonna give me a chance to answer?” Griffin said as Hostin continued to ignore her and speak.

“This is absurd!” Griffin said. “This is not what the show is about. This is Barbara Walter’s legacy. Let a woman speak.”

That was when Goldberg got involved and sent the show to commercial.

“I can’t hear anybody saying anything…Maybe we need to figure out how we do this again! Let’s have this break and let’s figure out how we’re going to make this work!” she said.

South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott, who last month declared his candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, joined the lefty co-hosts of “The View” and it didn’t take long for the sparks to fly.

The discussion began cordially enough but then took a turn when co-host Sunny Hostin pressed Scott to define “systemic racism.”

The token conservative on the panel, Alyssa Farah Griffin, began by asking Scott about his optimistic message and his running on his life story of having overcome great adversity to live the American dream.

Not long after, Hostin hijacked the conversation and attempted to spar with Scott over his positions. The interview got so tense at one moment that Goldberg asked the crew for help when she was demanding Scott stop talking so they could cut to commercial.
