Hillary Clinton, a twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate took to Twitter to mock former President Donald Trump on Friday, June 9th, 2023, for his recent indictment. She created a new merchandise line called in order to do so, which includes a three-word statement of revenge on her nemesis.
“Bringing this back in light of recent news: Get a limited-edition But Her Emails hat and support @onwardtogether groups working to strengthen our democracy,” Clinton wrote on Twitter, adding a link and photoshopped image of her wearing the hat.
Her social media post hilariously (in her mind) follows Trump revealing that federal prosecutors are indicting him as part of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the handling of White House documents, even though she pulled a similar stunt in 2016, where the phrase stems from.
Clinton formerly served as Secretary of State under former President Barack Obama. During this time, she mishandled classified information on a private server “likely used to hide efforts to use her office to raise money for her family’s foundation,” as Breitbart News reported. She wiped a total of 33,000 emails, however, FBI Director James Comey notoriously suggested against charges against Clinton during the summer of 2016. This statement was also reportedly watered down to further diminish the gravity of Hillary Clinton’s actions.
Furthermore, this isn’t Clinton’s first time childishly mocking her former presidential challenger by promoting the “But Her Emails” merchandise, for she put a post on Twitter after the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last year, in which she wrote, “Every ‘But her Emails’ hat or shirt sold helps @onwardtogether partners defend democracy, build a progressive bench, and fight for our values. Just saying!”
This vindictive take posted on social media can be regarded as a way to shamelessly celebrate the erosion and weaponization of the federal justice system, funded by taxpayers. Yet, she didn’t face the music during her own botched scandal, for which she was never indicted. Instead, she was covered by James Comey, who admittedly hated Trump and was desperate to see him lose.
Now Clinton views this indictment as a joke when inside is where she’s really laughing knowing she got away with the same crime that her deepest nemesis is now paying for due to a federal system conned into her corner.
Glenn Greenwald wrote on Twitter, “Virtually every US institution has suffered a massive loss of faith and trust among the public, except the military (and it’s not a healthy sign in a democracy when only the military is respected).”
However, Clinton may have celebrated too soon, for the Florida jury is far different than those in New York City or Washington D.C.
In fact, Republic Briefe reported earlier that the judge assigned to the Indictment case is a Trump appointee. U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon is a favorite of Trump’s, and Judge Cannon previously told Attorney General Merrick Garland to go pound sand in the document case when she ordered a special master to step in.
Clinton’s party poppers and balloons were flaunted far too early, for the ball is in former President Donald Trump’s court.
According to Reuters, Trump faces seven criminal counts related to his treatment of sensitive government materials he took with him when he left the White House in January 2021, according to a source familiar with the matter. He is due to appear in court on Tuesday, a day before his 77th birthday.
ABC News, citing sources, reported that U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has been initially assigned to oversee the case. It is unclear whether she will preside over the trial.
Cannon, appointed by Trump in 2019, made decisions that favored him in legal skirmishes during the documents investigation last year. Her rulings were overturned on appeal.
Investigators seized roughly 13,000 documents from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, nearly a year ago. One hundred were marked as classified, even though one of Trump’s lawyers had previously said all records with classified markings had been returned to the government.
“The specifics of the latest charges against Trump are not public, as the indictment is sealed for now,” CNBC reported.
Trump’s attorney, James Trusty, in an interview with CNN, said the charges include false statements, conspiracy to obstruct and willfully retaining documents in violation of the Espionage Act.
Those charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if Trump is convicted, though the actual sentence would likely be lower because of federal sentencing guidelines.
Trump, who is seeking the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, is the only U.S. president, former or otherwise, ever to be criminally charged.
