Michelle Obama Suffers Meltdown After SCOTUS Rules Against Affirmative Action

Towards the end of June, the Supreme Court delivered a clear and concise ruling as far as affirmative action goes. The highest court in the land determined that race-based admissions to universities are not constitutional.

It didn’t take long for this news to spread across social media, with Americans everywhere weighing in. Conservatives praised the ruling, agreeing that admissions to higher education should be based on merit and merit alone.

However, Democrats opposed the verdict, citing it as racist and alleging that universities should also be made to do away with legacy admissions.

One of the Democrats who made sure to express dissent is none other than former first lady Michelle Obama, per the Gateway Pundit.

It Begins

Obama’s response to the Supreme Court’s ruling entailed making the case that affirmative action evens the odds for disadvantaged students. The former first lady also made a point of demanding for policies that she views as both just and “equitable.”

However, in the multi-paragraph statement, there is one key bit of information that Obama left out. While the former first lady attended Princeton, this opportunity was afforded to her not because of affirmative action, but because her older brother got in.

This could technically be categorized as one of the “legacy admissions” that Democrats are now insisting this country ought to do away with.

America Responds

Obama’s statement recieved a lot of pushback on social media from people who agree with the Supreme Court’s verdict, yet disagree with Obama’s narrative that a merit-based system isn’t fair.

Going forward, it remains to be seen how universities made changes to their admissions processes, since affirmative action policies aren’t going to cut it anymore.

Already, several prestigious institutions have already come out with statements that oppose the Supreme Court’s decision and are more aligned with Obama’s talking points.
