I Returned Home Unexpectedly On New Year’s Eve And Found My Wife… (Part 2)

Within ninety minutes, Detective Rachel Moreno arrived at the hospital, meticulously collecting the security recordings, financial statements, and handwritten notes. When Maya explained how Chloe regularly took her phone, intercepted messages, and isolated her, the detective took extensive notes, advising me to keep my relatives believing I was still in Germany to preserve the evidence.

At 7:42 AM, my mother called on speakerphone, complaining that my card was declining and asking me to approve $12,000 for their extended stay. When I asked if Maya and Liam were with her, she dismissed my wife’s recovery from major surgery, claiming Maya preferred to stay in Brooklyn and that women have been raising babies without help for generations.

THE FRAUD REVEALED

Bank fraud investigators quickly verified that $38,000 in unauthorized luxury transactions had been charged across my cards, along with three separate transfers totaling $61,400 taken from our joint savings into an LLC owned by Chloe. Around noon, Liam was cleared to leave observation while Maya remained admitted for antibiotic treatment.

Detective Moreno returned at 1:17 PM with a folder containing a fraudulent credit line application for $150,000 submitted in Maya’s name using her Social Security number and a forged signature. Chloe had systematically gathered Maya’s documents months earlier under the guise of updating family estate records.

Surveillance footage forwarded from Miami showed Mark standing beside Chloe as she wrote Maya’s name on event booking documents. Chloe had misled Ethan into believing she had legally adopted the name Maya Carter, setting up a elaborate plan to access his family trust funds.
