When she gave birth in February of that year, this 31-year-old Nigerian mother had no idea what she was about to go through. She can now easily distinguish between the identical twins of her sons. Despite the fact that Daniel and David were born only a few minutes apart, they are completely unrelated.
Both of Stacy and Babajide’s children, who are black and live in Lagos, are albinos. The cute twins are always the center of attention wherever they go due to their drastically different looks. While Daniel resembles his 5-year-old elder sister Demilade and has dark skin and black curly hair, David is beautifully white with pale skin and golden hair.
Stacy’s choice to post about the strange couple’s activities on Instagram resulted in the twins having nearly 18,000 followers after just a year.
On February 26 of last year, everyone was utterly unprepared for the twins’ delivery.
It was a tremendous surprise and the most fantastic moment when the first twin (Daniel) came out with black hair and the second twin (David) came out with gold hair because we were unaware of their differences when I was pregnant and the scan did not reflect such. The doctors told me that since I had them through CS, “It seems you are having totally unidentical twins.” Stacy, a mother of three children, said: “Before I knew it, nurses started coming out to look at them.
Due to the fact that one twin was black and the other white, the twins could easily be identified from one another.
Stacy shared her husband’s touching reaction to this turn of events with us.
Their father was so overjoyed that he instantly gave My Twin 2 (David) the nickname “Golden,” and now he calls him Mr. Golden. He was pleased to meet his boys. He remained there for more than ten minutes, gazing at them, and claimed that he was simply admiring God’s beautiful creation and that they were the best gift ever.
Only 1 in 20,000 newborns are born with albinism, which makes David’s case extremely unique.
Melanin, the pigment produced in the skin, hair, and eyes, is absent in albinism, a hereditary disorder that affects appearance. All racial and ethnic groupings are affected, and the type of pigmentation has varied degrees of influence on pigmentation. Albinism is a rare disorder with a birth chance of between 3,000 and 20,000. Extreme caution must be used by albinos because it could lead to a variety of skin and visual issues.
Due to oculocutaneous albinism, David has stunning golden hair and an unusually pale complexion. Fortunately, Stacy says David is in excellent health.
With almost two million verified or suspected instances, Nigeria is one of the countries in the world with the highest prevalence of albinism. The figures demonstrate, however, that there is still a great deal of bias against this community due to the skin tone of its people. Over 600,000 albino Nigerians endure harassment and prejudice from their communities, families, and peers, which frequently leads to challenges at work and academic failure.
According to Stacy, everyone loves her two sons equally and unconditionally, and no one has ever said anything bad about them to her.
Every time we go out, there are always side conversations. People want to know how and what’s going on, and perhaps because they are so charming and adorable, you simply want to approach them and say hello.
Due to the twins’ peculiar characteristics, modeling agencies in the UK have been making offers to the twins’ family. The family has set up an Instagram account to share their happiness and bring attention to important topics, and they are prepared to seize any possibilities that may arise. They have a narrative to tell, and Stacy and I decided to make an account for them in order to raise awareness.
They are more than a year old, walking, and have two incredibly unique personalities, according to Stacy.
David is an observer, but Daniel is more outspoken. They both have a strong curiosity. They both have a lot of energy. Daniel enjoys eating, however David is a finicky eater. Daniel is also quite fun, whereas David picks his moments.
