Valerie Bertinelli and Mike Goodnough are no longer together after 10 months of dating.
The news was revealed by a source who told People, “They are no longer in a relationship.” In an interview with the magazine, Bertinelli, 64, talked about having a friendship with Goodnough, who lives on the East Coast, even though they live far apart.
The couple set up a “three-week rule” to keep the romance alive even though they lived far apart. Bertinelli said, “We never go longer than that without seeing each other.” “After all, it’s about finding the joy in life and sharing it.”

Goodnough is 10 years younger than Bertinelli. They first became public on April 3, when she showed up with him to promote her new recipe, Indulge, on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Yes, Goodnough, 54, confirmed their connection on his Substack, which he called Hoarse Whisperings. He wrote, “I am Valerie Bertinelli’s boyfriend… and that may well be one of the strangest sentences I’ve ever typed.” But it’s true, and nothing about our relationship seems strange. It looks like a gift, good luck, or both.
The star of Hot in Cleveland talked about meeting Goodnough after he posted on one of her Instagram posts that same month in an interview with People. Even though it was just a friendship, there was something about him that felt familiar. A sense of comfort. “He seemed like a kindred spirit,” she told the news source.
Bertinelli understood there was more going on than just friendship after they talked on the phone in January. Her voice had a “beautiful timbre,” and she said it was clear that they were connected, even though they weren’t ready to accept it. After that, they walked the red carpet for the first time at the Daytime Emmys in June, which Goodnough also wrote about on his Substack.
Before they started dating, Bertinelli was married to financial manager Tom Vitale from 2011 to 2022. She has since said that her marriage to Vitale was “toxic.” When she finally got a divorce from him, she said it was the “second best day of my life.”
She was also married to Eddie Van Halen, the lead singer of Van Halen, from 1981 until his death from lung cancer in 2007. They had a son together, Wolfgang Van Halen, who is now 33 years old.
