Prince William spends morning by Kate’s bedside after her sudden hospitalization – fans pray for the couple

Royal fans the world over had a momentary episode of panic earlier this week when it was suddenly announced that Kate Middleton had undergone abdominal surgery.

The news, released by the Kensington Palace, detailed how the princess would be confined to a hospital bed for the next two weeks, and would be postponing any and all royal engagements until after Easter.

The official reason behind Kate’s surgery remains shrouded in mystery – as is so often the case regarding sensitive matters and the Royal Family – but what we do know is that the surgery was a success and that Kate is now in recovery.

Naturally, the mere fact that such a high-ranking member of the British monarchy should require a surgery that would leave her bedridden for a fortnight was a rather worrying update, but one can be safe in the knowledge that Kate is receiving the very best of care.

Not only that, but new reports tell how Prince William visited yesterday to spend the morning by his wife’s bedside. The prince was spotted departing from The London Clinic where Kate is saying in a black Audi, trailed by his bodyguards in a Range Rover.

In a lengthy statement issued on Wednesday, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales will stay at a private London hospital for ten to 14 days. Not only that, but she is “unlikely” to return to public duties until after Easter.

Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” the statement from Kensington Palace on its social media pages.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

The statement continued: “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share. The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

Many royal fans shared their concerns for Kate on social media, wishing her a speedy recovery.

“Feel better soon, Catherine. Even while she’s not well, she’s worried about everything going on around her. You take care of you and I’m sure people understand the need to respect your privacy for your children. They would want the same for their own,” one wrote.

Another added: “Prayers for a successful recovery for the Princess of Wales and for her lovely family as they navigate this difficult time.”

A third said: “My thoughts and prayers are with her and her whole family.”

“14 days is a long stay, hope she’s ok,” another stated.

It’s important to reiterate that what little we do know about Kate’s surgery makes clear that it was planned, not the result of an emergency, and that at this time it’s reported to have been “non-cancerous” in nature.

While Kate recovers, it’s understood that Prince William will cut down on his public engagements to better help take care of the couple’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. It’s understand that Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton, will also be on hand to help their daughter’s recovery.

Word of her surgery came around the same time that it was announced King Charles will also be hospital-bound in the near future, with the monarch preparing for a corrective procedure after being diagnosed with a benign enlarged prostate. Buckingham Palace announced that news an hour-and-a-half after Kensington Palace revealed Kate’s operation.

Here’s to wishing Kate Middleton a swift recovery and the very best of health moving forward.
