Radical Leftist Group Is Preventing Trump from Obtaining Top-Tier Lawyers

Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard lawyer, presented a paper on the Gatestone Institute website on Thursday that discussed the difficulties President Trump is having defending himself against the countless baseless accusations leveled against him by the far-left.

Here’s what Dershowitz had to say

  • There are disturbing suggestions that among the reasons lawyers are declining the case is because they fear legal and career reprisals.
  • There is a nefarious group that calls itself The 65 Project that has as its goal to intimidate lawyers into not representing Trump or anyone associated with him. They have threatened to file bar charges against any such lawyers.

I wrote an op-ed offering to defend pro bono any lawyers that The 65 Project goes after. So The 65 Project immediately went after me, and contrived a charge based on a case in which I was a constitutional consultant, but designed to send a message to potential Trump lawyers: If you defend Trump or anyone associated with him, we will target you and find something to charge you with. The lawyers to whom I spoke are fully aware of this threat — and they are taking it seriously…. It may even be worse today….

Good lawyers… generally welcome challenges, especially in high-profile cases. This case is different: the threats to the lawyers are greater than at any time since McCarthyism. Nor is the comparison to McCarthyism a stretch. I recall during the 1950s how civil liberties lawyers, many of whom despised communism, were cancelled, and attacked if they dared to represent people accused of being communists.

Our system of justice is based on the John Adams standard: he too was attacked for defending the British soldiers accused of the Boston Massacre, but his representation of these accused killers now serves as a symbol of the 6th Amendment right to counsel. That symbol has now been endangered…

Trump’s lawyers have now alleged that one of the prosecutors has suggested to Stanley Woodward, the lawyer for Waltine Nauta, Trump’s co-defendant, that his application for judgeship may be negatively affected if he persists in defending Nauta vigorously rather than encouraging him to cooperate against Trump. If that is true – and I have not seen the evidence to support it – then it represents a direct attack on the 6th Amendment.

Conservatives are being targeted by far-left activists like Media Matters founder David Brock and former Democratic Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle in an effort to discourage them from opposing any future left-wing election fraud plans.

The 65 Project claims that by undermining the principles of liberty and democracy in America, they are “protecting democracy”.

Following the 2016 election, Media Matters collaborated with Facebook to have conservative and pro-Trump groups removed from the website

They have made an effort to have FOX News removed from cable networks.

Media Matters boasted that it had successfully removed FOX News personality Trish Regan from the air.

They were in charge of the campaigns to ban Bill O’Reilly from the broadcast.

They were responsible for the cancellation of Bards Fest in St. Louis, a meeting of Christians who were planning to talk about the rigged 2020 election

They were in charge of the campaign to take down “The Donald” Reddit page. Their goal is to eliminate conservative media outlets from the US.

They have had substantial results.

This extremist group is after everybody who supports America and its foundational ideals, basically anyone who is conservative

Following the 2020 election, Media Matters’ David Brock attacked lawyers who supported Trump. His company is known as the 65 Project.

At the beginning of the year, the organization filed lawfare hits against Jenna Ellis, Cleta Mitchell, Joe diGenova, Boris Epshteyn, and others.

After the 2020 election, the organization filed fabricated ethics accusations against 40 Trump attorneys.

After the 2020 election, the organization filed fabricated ethics accusations against 40 Trump attorneys.

The 65 Project has no legal foundation, hence its objective is not to prevail in court. The intention is to involve both Trump’s attorneys and fans in never-ending legal battles, hence the term “lawfare.” They want to intimidate Trump backers into oblivion

Last Thursday, President Trump was indicted on thirty-seven counts by Democrat Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ).

Trump, who will challenge President Joe Biden in the 2016 presidential race, may spend years in prison if he is found guilty on all counts.

On Monday, Trump was arraigned in court where his lawyers plead not guilty on his behalf. Trump was given a pretrial release by the federal judge, with the caveat of no communication with witnesses.

The following day, Trump gave a speech at Bedminster, New Jersey, telling a few of his potential counterarguments for his case.

In what is some good news for the former President, Judge Aileen Cannon of the U.S. District Court, who was appointed by Trump, has been given the politically driven case. In a previous case, Cannon issued several pro-Trump judgments that infuriated those on the left.

While Trump surely would love not to have to deal with charges, his campaign for 2024 is raking in a lot of cash because of it.

“Trump raised about $2 million at the first major fundraiser of his campaign, only hours after his arraignment in Miami,” Politico reported.
