“One of my security men checked the cameras in the arrivals area,” Alejandro explained calmly. “There’s a man showing your picture to airport employees.”
Valeria felt the color drain from her face as he described a man in a gray suit with an expensive watch.
“It’s Rodrigo…” she whispered. “How did he know I was coming here?”
She remembered the goodbye message she had sent an old friend, realizing too late that her friend was still talking to her ex.
Once the cabin emptied, three bodyguards in dark suits escorted them out through a private exit reserved for executives.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo slammed his fist against his truck’s steering wheel after learning she had escaped through a private terminal.
“Without Sofia, I can’t claim the trust,” Rodrigo muttered coldly over the phone.
During their marriage, Sofia’s grandfather had created a multimillion-peso trust that required both parents’ approval, and Rodrigo needed it to cover eighty million pesos in fraudulent debts.
Inside the SUV, Alejandro warned Valeria that her cousin’s home in Iztapalapa wouldn’t be safe if Rodrigo tracked her social media.
“You can stay at my house for a few days until we figure this out,” Alejandro offered gently.
When Valeria hesitated, Alejandro revealed a painful truth from his past: “My wife died twelve years ago, and our baby didn’t survive.”
Understanding the deep grief in his eyes, Valeria agreed.
An hour later, they arrived at his quiet, sprawling estate in Bosques de las Lomas.
An older housekeeper named Clara greeted them warmly, whispering that she hadn’t seen Alejandro smile in years.
