Breaking NewsFatal accident

A serious multi-vehicle crash caused major traffic chaos Wednesday on the Mexico–Querétaro Highway near Huehuetoca in the State of Mexico after a trailer reportedly lost control during rainy weather and slammed into several vehicles. The accident happened near kilometer 59 close to the Jorobas intersection while the truck was heading toward Mexico City. According to early reports, the driver “was unable to brake in time” before hitting a retaining wall and crashing into at least five cars and a pickup truck.

The violent impact caused the trailer to jackknife across the highway, completely blocking all three lanes and forcing authorities to partially shut down the roadway. Heavy rain and wet pavement are believed to have played a role in the accident, although investigators are still examining the exact cause. Emergency teams rushed to the scene as traffic stretched for miles behind the closure.

Paramedics treated several people for minor injuries on-site. Officials said there were “no life-threatening injuries” reported immediately after the crash, but some victims were encouraged to undergo further medical checks as a precaution against delayed complications that can sometimes appear after serious collisions.

The incident also renewed concerns about dangerous driving conditions during storms, especially on busy highways heavily used by large commercial trucks. Authorities reminded drivers to slow down, keep safe distances between vehicles, and remain cautious when roads are wet to reduce the risk of similar accidents.

Motorists traveling through the area faced long delays while crews removed damaged vehicles and cleared debris from the highway. Investigators continue reviewing weather conditions, vehicle speed, and possible mechanical issues that may have contributed to the crash.
