White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre gave a reporter’s pugnacious question regarding President Joe Biden being “corrupt” an unofficial one-word response.
“Jesus.”
Ms. Jean-Pierre was joined by John Kirby, the National Security Council’s Coordinator for Strategic Communications, for the Wednesday afternoon press conference at the White House.
Steven Nelson of the New York Post chose to ask one last question, asking Mr. Kirby how the White House answers to “the majority of Americans” who think President Joe Biden is “corrupt.”
Off-camera, Ms. Jean-Pierre could be heard answering the query with “Jesus” after she posed it. However, Ms. Jean-Pierre’s remark was not included in the press conference’s official transcript.
Mr. Nelson began by citing a number of recent bad reports about Mr. Biden, such as inquiries into his and the Biden family’s businesses and polls that revealed the majority of Americans believe Mr. Biden was involved in his son’s international controversy.
“There’s, of course, evidence that the president interacted with his relative’s associates from China, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine,” Mr Nelson added to his list of negative stories.
He then asked: “So what do you say to the majority of Americans who believe that the president is himself corrupt?”
The combative question left Mr Kirby and Ms Jean-Pierre nearly speechless for a moment.
The White House Press Secretary could be heard responding with, “Jesus” while Mr Kirby responded, “Wow”.
“We’ve got to wrap this up,” Ms. Jean-Pierre promptly intervened.
However, Mr. Kirby was able to respond to Mr. Nelson, telling him that if he wanted an opinion on a recent Internal Revenue Service whistleblower’s charge that Mr. Biden had accepted bribes, he should contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Additionally, he stated that Mr. Biden had previously addressed some of the allegations raised by Mr. Nelson and had stated: “There’s nothing to these claims.”
