On My Wedding Day, My Husband’s Ex Showed Up… (Part 1)

The instant my husband’s ex-girlfriend opened our bridal limousine door on our wedding day and demanded a ride, I instinctively knew my marriage was over before it even officially began.

Wearing an exquisite twelve-thousand-dollar wedding gown paid for by my family, and fresh off a gorgeous garden ceremony attended by two hundred guests, I stared in utter disbelief as my new husband Ethan told me to shift over to make room for Vanessa.

Vanessa smiled smugly in her striking red silk dress, acting as if she belonged right there beside my husband, while Ethan casually rolled his eyes and told me not to make a big deal out of a simple fifteen-minute ride.

When I looked to Ethan for basic respect and defense, he arrogantly sighed, accused me of embarrassing him, and told me I was being overly dramatic and insecure about his lifelong friend.

Something inside my soul became completely still and ice-cold; quietly telling Ethan he was right, I gathered the heavy layers of my white gown, stepped straight out of the limousine, and slammed the door shut behind me.

Ethan laughed through the rolled-down window, assuming I was just throwing a childish tantrum and would crawl right back, while Vanessa giggled from the back seat, mocking that girls like me always come back.

What Ethan completely failed to realize in his supreme arrogance was that my family’s business had not only funded our extravagant wedding venue and limousine, but I actually held majority controlling ownership of the very corporation where he had just been made chief operating officer.

Walking back into my parents’ house, I calmly stripped off my wedding veil, looked my shocked mother and father in the eyes, and asked them to call our family attorney immediately because I was done.

As I slipped off my diamond wedding ring and set it on the kitchen counter, a wave of profound peace washed over me, knowing that my ungrateful husband was about to discover the devastating cost of his arrogant betrayal.

Little did Ethan know, his golden ticket to corporate success was about to vanish into thin air, and the woman he thought he could dismiss so easily was actually the owner of his entire world.
