It happened so suddenly on our wedding night, I almost thought I completely imagined it.

Right beneath my hand as I tried to assist him, I felt a faint, unexpected movement.

His legs had moved. It was subtle, just the slightest twitch, but absolutely unmistakable.

I froze completely, my heart pounding in absolute disbelief in the middle of the room.

For a split second, I thought it was a trick of the light or a fragment of wishful thinking born from months of heavy worry.

But then it happened again — another small, distinct movement under the sheets.

Ethan’s eyes suddenly met mine, and for the first time, I saw raw panic flash across his face.

It was quickly replaced by that familiar mask of calm indifference, but I knew exactly what I saw.

My mind raced, trying to process the unthinkable reality of why he would pretend to be completely paralyzed.

“Ethan,” I whispered, barely able to speak. “I felt your legs move.”

His expression didn’t change, but I noticed the slightest clench in his jaw.

“You must be mistaken,” he said evenly, trying to maintain the lie.

Finally, he exhaled a long, weary sigh and admittingly said, “I didn’t expect you to find out like this… But yes, I can move my legs.”

However, just as the shocking words left his mouth, a sudden, aggressive loss of balance caused us both to tumble violently off the edge of the mattress, crashing heavily into a hidden floor safe beneath the bed. What the collision accidentally triggered inside the wall panel, right as the security sensors detected an armed breach at the estate’s main gates by his family’s oldest rival, completely paralyzed us both with pure terror…
